Another first for Hispanics was earned by Ed Pastor, when he became the first Latino from Arizona to be elected to US Congress. Pastor was born in a small mining town in Arizona. He earned his BA at Arizona State University and his law degree from Arizona State College of Law. After serving as a County Supervisor, he was elected to Congress and began his term on September 25, 1991. Pastor served on the Agriculture Committee and the Committee on House Oversight.
